VITΛL Fuel Systems, Inc. is a specialty contractor located in the Triangle area looking for a Controller to join our organization and help us serve our customers.
We are a hybrid equipment distributor / contractor and specialize in the design, sale, and installation of fuel oil systems for emergency power systems primarily at mission‐critical facilities like data centers and hospitals. We currently perform work in VA, NC, SC, TN, GA, and MD for some of the largest end‐user technology clients on the planet and sell equipment all over the U.S. and beyond.
The systems we build help keep the power on during emergencies so people who are on the operating table, or need clean drinking water, or facetiming a distant relative can continue. We help people live their lives without interruption when the power goes out and we have fun doing it. We are a highly‐collaborative group of sometimes noisy, slightly disorganized, friendly people who value input from anyone with any title in the organization. We’re looking for someone with an opinion willing to contribute ideas combined with the humility that knows none of us have a monopoly on the best ideas because we’re smarter together.
This position reports to the president leading a staff of 1+ (staff to grow as business needs dictate) and will be responsible for all aspects of accounting including payroll, invoicing, AR, AP, GL, cash flow management and forecasting, management and compliance with reporting requirements and tax filings, job‐costing, budgeting and forecasting, providing financial research / reports to senior management, establishing and enforcing proper accounting procedures / policies, maintaining compliance with contractor and other applicable license requirements in multiple jurisdictions, and working with third party accounting firm for year‐end close‐out process and preparation of GAAP statements for stockholders, bonding company, and bank as required. This position would also be responsible for managing human resource functions such as insurance and certain special projects that might require research and analysis including recommendations to senior management.
The ideal candidate would have the highest of integrity (cultural fit is of utmost importance), audit experience, construction accounting experience, accounting degree (CPA preferred but not required), proficiency with QuickBooks Enterprise Contractor Edition, Word, Excel, ability to lead people well and manage things responsibly, identify critical path items and set priorities, thrive in and remain calm under pressure in a sometimes fast‐paced environment with a positive can‐do attitude.
We also understand that the ‘ideal’ candidate may not be an actual ‘person’ so we will entertain an excellent candidate with experience that differs from some of the above.
